Lost Odyssey is a turn-based role-playing game developed by Feelplus and released in 2007 for Xbox 360. The story unfolds in a world undergoing a Magic-Industrial Revolution, a period beginning roughly thirty years before the game's events when magic energy surged dramatically in potency. This transformation reshaped civilization: harnessed through devices known as Magic Engines, magical power now drives lighting, vehicles, communications, and robotics, while a far greater number of people have gained the ability to wield it. The political landscape is equally turbulent. The Republic of Uhra, formerly a monarchy, is constructing a colossal Magic Engine called the Grand Staff, while the heavily industrialized kingdom of Gohtza pursues its own arcane research. A third state, the neutral Free Ocean State of Numara, faces internal instability from a coup attempt. The game opens with Uhra's forces engaging the beastman nation of Khent in battle at the Highlands of Wohl.
