Mario Party 5 is a party board game developed by Hudson Soft and released in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube. Set in the Dream World, players guide Mario and his friends across a series of new game boards in an effort to restore peace to that realm. Like its predecessors, the core loop revolves around competitive turn-based board movement combined with a large collection of minigames that interrupt play between rounds. The game introduces new mechanics and surprises across its boards, offering both single-player and multiplayer modes for up to four participants. As players traverse each board, they collect coins and stars while using items to gain advantages or hinder rivals. The fifth entry in the long-running Mario Party series, it retains the accessible, luck-driven gameplay the franchise is known for while refreshing the experience with new content specific to this installment.
