Metal Slug 4 is a 2002 run-and-gun arcade shooter developed by BrezzaSoft, released across multiple platforms including Arcade, Neo Geo AES and MVS, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Wii, PC, iOS, and Android. Set one year after Metal Slug 3, the game centers on a dangerous cyber virus threatening to cripple military computer networks worldwide. With series regulars Tarma and Eri occupied elsewhere, veterans Marco and Fio are dispatched to investigate, accompanied by two new recruits, Nadia and Trevor. The investigation leads the group to Amadeus, a terrorist organization orchestrating the attack. Players fight through waves of enemies and combat vehicles across the campaign, working to neutralize Amadeus and stop the virus from compromising global defense systems. The game retains the series' signature blend of fast-paced side-scrolling action, hostage rescuing, and iconic weaponry while introducing the new roster additions.
One year after the events of Metal Slug 3, the world is trembling under the new threat of a mysterious but deadly cyber virus that threatens to attack and destroy any nation's military computer system. With Tarma and Eri unable to help due to their own assignments in the matter, Marco and Fio are called in to investigate the situation and are joined by two newcomers, Nadia and Trevor. In their investigation, the group discovers that a terrorist organization known as Amadeus is behind the nefarious plot and that they head into battle against Amadeus' forces, hoping to destroy the cyber virus before it gets the chance to wipe out the entire world's military computer system.
