Set during the Second Age of Tolkien's mythology, the downloadable content casts players as Celebrimbor, the Elven lord who forged the Rings of Power, in a direct confrontation against Sauron. The expansion retains the action-RPG framework of the base game while introducing new content, including unlockable runes and the ability to wield the One Ring as a combat tool. The One Ring grants Celebrimbor additional power, adding a distinct mechanical layer to the familiar Nemesis system-driven gameplay.
