MLB 2000 is a baseball simulation developed by 989 Studios and released in 1999 for PlayStation. Building on its predecessor MLB 99, the game features licensed teams, stadiums, players, and statistics drawn from real Major League Baseball rosters. Returning modes include quick play, season, playoffs, spring training, and home run derby. Two new additions expand the experience considerably. General Manager mode allows players to manage a roster through drafting, trading, signing, waiving, releasing, and calling up players. The separate Manager mode offers in-game strategic tools such as scouting reports, bullpen management, and the ability to guide a team through the season toward a World Series victory. Together these modes give the title a greater emphasis on front-office and dugout decision-making compared to the previous installment, while retaining the core on-field gameplay that defined the series.
