Pokémon Shining Pearl is a role-playing adventure developed by ILCA and released for Nintendo Switch in 2021, serving as a faithful remake of the original Pokémon Pearl Version. Set in the Sinnoh region — a land defined by rich natural environments, the towering Mount Coronet, and longstanding mythological traditions — the game follows a trainer working toward becoming Champion of the Pokémon League. Players select one of three starter Pokémon: Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup, before embarking across a recreation of Sinnoh's towns and routes that closely mirrors the layout of the source material. The Legendary Pokémon Palkia features as a central encounter. While preserving the structure and story of the original, the remake incorporates quality-of-life improvements from more recent entries in the series alongside updated, close-range battle presentations. Turn-based combat remains the core of gameplay throughout.
