Developed by Game Freak and released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color (and later Nintendo 3DS), Pokémon Silver is a role-playing game and the direct sequel to Pokémon Red and Blue. Set in the new Johto region, the game introduces 100 previously unseen Pokémon to catch and train, alongside eight new Gyms to defeat and a fresh Pokémon League to conquer. The core loop follows the established series formula of turn-based battles and team-building as players work toward becoming Champion. Beyond the main campaign, Pokémon Silver features a notably expanded post-game, including additional content tied to the regions and characters of its predecessors, offering a substantial amount of material beyond the credits. It was released alongside the companion title Pokémon Gold, with both games forming the second generation of the long-running Pokémon franchise.
