Samurai Warriors 4: Empires is a 2015 strategy and hack-and-slash title developed by Omega Force for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. The third entry in the Samurai Warriors Empires line, it blends large-scale battlefield combat with a deeper strategic layer in which players issue orders and exchange counsel with subordinate officers to expand their control across feudal Japan. The simulation components were developed with input from the team behind the Nobunaga's Ambition series, lending the strategic side additional depth. The game builds on Samurai Warriors 4-II for its roster, action systems, and visual presentation, and draws on qualities from the original Empires title following fan requests. No new playable characters are introduced, but the number of character-specific story events is expanded considerably, with the stated design goal of delivering a comprehensive conquest simulation within the Warriors framework.
