Senran Kagura Burst is a side-scrolling hack-and-slash beat 'em up developed by Tamsoft and released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. Players select from five female ninja characters and fight through mission-based stages across five chapters, each containing both required and optional objectives. As characters sustain damage, their clothing progressively tears away. Between combat segments, the game presents story content through a visual novel-style format that delivers character backstories and world-building at key narrative moments. Progression rewards players with new moves and abilities as characters level up, while unlockable content includes artwork, music, achievements, and approximately 180 costumes. Completed story missions can be replayed with any unlocked character, and performance is graded on health, attack output, and mission completion speed. The combination of straightforward brawling mechanics and an expanding roster gives the game a degree of replayability beyond its main campaign.
