SimCity 2000 is a city-building and management simulation developed by Maxis, released in 1993 across a wide range of platforms including PC, Mac, DOS, SNES, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Game Boy Advance, and others. Players design and oversee urban environments from the ground up, zoning land and constructing infrastructure such as roads, railways, and highways alongside civic institutions like schools, hospitals, libraries, zoos, and prisons. Power generation and utility networks must also be managed, with an underground layer allowing subway systems and utilities to be routed beneath the city without affecting surface aesthetics. Prebuilt cities and scenario challenges offer alternatives to starting from scratch, while customization tools let players modify individual buildings or create entirely new graphics sets.
