StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a real-time strategy game developed by Blizzard Entertainment and released in 2010 for Windows and Mac. Set in a distant future across the reaches of space, the game follows Jim Raynor, a former marshal turned rebel leader, as he wages a vigilante campaign against the Terran Dominion and its authoritarian ruler, Arcturus Mengsk. Raynor's story is defined by betrayal, guilt, and a long-deferred drive for vengeance. As the first installment in the StarCraft II trilogy, Wings of Liberty tasks players with commanding Terran forces through a story-driven single-player campaign while also offering competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes. The game builds on the foundational mechanics of the original StarCraft — base construction, resource gathering, and unit management across diverse mission objectives — and represents Blizzard's return to the franchise after more than a decade.
