Test Drive Unlimited is an open-world racing game developed by Eden Games, released in 2006 for PC and Xbox 360. Set across more than 1,000 miles of Hawaiian roads, it allows players to drive and ride a wide variety of exotic cars and motorcycles sourced from in-game dealerships. Progression is built around earning credits through races, challenges, missions, and tournaments, which can then be spent on new vehicles, performance parts, clothing, properties, and garages. Rare parts can be collected and traded, and each vehicle can be customized to a degree that distinguishes it from others. The game places particular emphasis on online competition, letting players test their vehicles against others across the island's diverse road network. The combination of open-world exploration, vehicle ownership, and persistent online multiplayer gave the title a notably distinct structure within the racing genre.
