Released in 2009 by Harmonix Music Systems for PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360, The Beatles: Rock Band is the third major console entry in the Rock Band series and the first to focus entirely on a single band. Players use instrument-shaped controllers to perform songs drawn from across the Beatles' career, spanning their early live performances through their later studio work. The game features virtual representations of all four band members and recreates several of the group's well-known concert appearances. For tracks recorded during the Abbey Road Studios period, when the Beatles had largely stopped touring, the game presents stylized "dreamscape" sequences in place of live performance settings. The selection covers the breadth of the band's history, making it both a rhythm game and a chronicle of one of the most influential acts in popular music.
