Developed by Zen Studios and released in July 2009 exclusively on PlayStation 3 via the PSN Store, The Punisher: No Mercy is a first-person shooter based on Marvel's vigilante anti-hero, Frank Castle. The game was made available as a digital download but was removed from the PlayStation Network in 2011 following the expiration of the licensing agreement between Zen Studios and Marvel. As a result, it remains a relatively obscure entry in the history of Marvel-licensed games, notable primarily as one of the few titles to place the Punisher character within a first-person shooter framework. Its limited availability window and subsequent removal from digital storefronts have made it largely inaccessible to players who did not acquire it during its brief period on the platform.
