Released in 2003 by Radical Entertainment for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC, The Simpsons: Hit & Run is an action-adventure game set across three distinct districts of Springfield. Players alternate between members of the Simpson family as they investigate a creeping conspiracy involving surveillance cameras shaped like wasps, mysterious black vans, and a suspiciously popular new variety of Buzz Cola. Gameplay blends on-foot exploration with vehicle travel, drawing on a roster of cars familiar from the television series. The main story unfolds through structured missions, while street races and optional side tasks for Springfield residents provide additional content. Collectible items — including hidden cards and secret gags — are scattered throughout each area, and clusters of wasp cameras can be sought out and destroyed. The game's structure and setting draw heavily from the long-running animated series, recreating recognizable Springfield locations across its three explorable zones.
