The Simpsons: Road Rage is a racing game developed by Radical Entertainment, released in 2001 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube. Drawing clear inspiration from Sega's Crazy Taxi, the core gameplay revolves around picking up passengers and ferrying them to their destinations as quickly as possible. Completing each fare earns money, with time bonuses available for especially swift deliveries. Obstacles such as other vehicles and Mr. Burns' nuclear transit buses must be navigated along the way. The game features sixteen collectible vehicles, six starting locations, and ten missions; both additional vehicles and new starting locations are unlocked by accumulating progressively larger sums of money, tying the reward structure directly to driving performance. The combination of Springfield's recognizable setting and this taxi-style loop gives the title its distinct identity within the licensed game landscape of the early 2000s.
Mr Burns has taken over Springfield's transit company and replaced the buses with nuclear powered buses; not only that but they also cost a lot to ride. But the people of Springfield won't accept this and decide to try to take back the transit company from the evil corporate hands of C. Montgomery Burns.
