Triple Play 2002 is a baseball simulation developed by Pandemic Studios, released in 2002 for Xbox and PlayStation 2. The game presents on-field action through realistic player models and cinematic out-of-play sequences designed to capture significant moments such as walk-off hits and crucial strikeouts. Several structural modes are available, including Single Game, Season, and Playoff options. A newly added Home Run Derby mode supports up to eight players in an elimination tournament format, where competitors attempt to hit as many home runs as possible before recording ten outs. Commentary duties are handled by a broadcast pairing of Bob Costas on play-by-play and Harold Reynolds, an ESPN Baseball Tonight analyst, providing color commentary. The combination of established game modes and the competitive Home Run Derby format gives the title a range of options suited to both casual sessions and longer franchise-style play.
