Triple Play 97 is a licensed baseball simulation developed by EA Sports for PlayStation and ported to PC by Synergistic Software, released in 1996. The game carries official MLB and MLBPA licensing, featuring all 28 Major League Baseball teams with their Opening Day 1996 rosters and schedules. Each of the 28 ballparks is rendered in 3D and introduced with a cinematic aerial flyover sequence, complemented by play-by-play color commentary during matches. Available gameplay modes span Exhibition, Series, All-Star, Playoffs, Season, and Home Run Derby. Multiplayer support is a notable feature: the PlayStation version accommodates up to eight players simultaneously using two Multitap adapters, while the PC version supports up to six players through modem connections or Gravis gamepads. The title represents one of the earlier efforts to bring fully three-dimensional presentation to the baseball simulation genre on home platforms.
