Virtua Tennis 3, developed by Sumo Digital and released in 2006, is the second arcade sequel in Sega's long-running tennis franchise. The arcade version runs on Sega's PC-based Lindbergh hardware, while home and portable ports were released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, and PC. These console and handheld editions retain the series' signature collection of tennis minigames, a staple of the home versions throughout the franchise's history. The game was later succeeded by a full update and reimagining released as Virtua Tennis 2009. Across all platforms, the title continues the franchise's focus on arcade-style tennis simulation, blending accessible court gameplay with the structured variety of modes that established Virtua Tennis as a prominent series within the sports genre.
