Warriors Orochi is a hack-and-slash title developed by Koei and released in 2007 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Vita. The game centers on a crossover between the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors rosters, brought together by a supernatural threat: the Serpent King Orochi, who fractures time and space to kidnap warriors from Ancient China and Feudal Japan in order to test his power against them. Players form teams from a roster of 79 playable characters to battle through the resulting conflict. The PSP version is notable within the series for being the first handheld entry to feature the large, open battlefields previously exclusive to console releases; earlier portable entries had divided combat into smaller segmented areas. The PSP version also supports two-player cooperative play through local wireless ad-hoc connectivity.
