Wonderbook: Book of Spells is an augmented reality simulator developed by SCE London Studio for PlayStation 3, released in 2012. Created in collaboration with J. K. Rowling as a companion to the Harry Potter series, it serves as the inaugural title for Sony's Wonderbook peripheral. The game draws its premise from Book of Spells, a fictional in-universe volume authored by Miranda Goshawk and set approximately 200 years before the events of the Harry Potter stories. Players interact with the physical Wonderbook accessory, which the PlayStation 3 camera renders as an animated magical tome through augmented reality technology. The title was first unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June 2012, positioning it as a novel use of the Wonderbook platform that blends physical props with on-screen wizarding content rooted in Rowling's established fictional world.
