Released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is a football simulator developed by EA Canada that recreates the tournament's qualification and knockout stages in dedicated fashion. The game includes all 199 national teams that participated in World Cup qualification, allowing players to guide their chosen nation from the earliest qualifying rounds through to the final itself. All 10 officially licensed South African venues are present, along with stadiums representing each qualifying region, and presentation details such as confetti, streamers, and fireworks reflect the atmosphere of the actual tournament. Matches can be played against the CPU or through online multiplayer via PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. Building on FIFA 10, the game introduces refined mechanics including increased player fatigue at high-altitude venues, a home-altitude advantage, and the possibility of players sustaining injuries outside of international fixtures.
