Burnout Revenge is an arcade racing game developed by Criterion Games, released in 2005 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, with an enhanced Xbox 360 version following shortly after. Players compete across 169 events spanning three continents, progressing through eleven rank tiers in the single-player world tour. The game offers several distinct event types: circuit races, Road Rage, Burning Lap time attacks, Eliminator (in which the last-place driver is eliminated every thirty seconds), and Crash mode, where the goal is accumulating "Crash Dollars" through staged collisions at junctions. A central mechanic introduced in this entry is "traffic checking," which allows players to ram smaller vehicles traveling in the same direction, propelling them into rival cars. Boost — earned through risky maneuvers like oncoming driving, tailgating, and drifting — is essential to competition, and executing takedowns on rivals fully replenishes it. The game includes 77 cars and supports both offline and online multiplayer, with the Xbox 360 version adding improved visuals, additional crash junctions, online Revenge Rivals tracking, and a clip-saving feature via Xbox Live.
