Burnout 3: Takedown is an arcade racing game developed by Criterion Games, released in 2004 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The game centers on high-speed, combat-oriented racing across locations in the USA, Europe, and the Far East, with players ramming rival vehicles off the road to build boost and gain competitive advantage. The single-player campaign spans more than 60 Race events alongside dedicated Crash events, in which players trigger and maximize large-scale multi-vehicle pileups at intersections. Dangerous driving generates in-game currency and Burnout Points, which unlock a roster of over 60 vehicles along with trophies and other rewards. Multiplayer support includes five competitive modes locally, and online play accommodates up to eight players simultaneously. The combination of crash-focused mechanics and boost management defines the game's core loop throughout all modes.
