FIFA Soccer 64 is a soccer simulation developed by EA Canada and released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64. The game offers a roster of 150 national and club teams, and players can compete across several modes, including friendly matches, Tournaments, full Seasons, and Playoffs. A two-player mode accommodates local multiplayer. Across all modes, a choice between Arcade and Simulation rule sets adjusts the strictness of referee calls and penalties, allowing for either a casual or more realistic experience. Player animations are produced through motion capture, resulting in smoother, more lifelike movement on the pitch.
