Gran Turismo 4 is a racing simulator developed by Polyphony Digital and released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2, serving as the fourth entry in the long-running Gran Turismo series and the final installment on that platform. The game offers an exceptionally large vehicle roster of over 700 cars spanning 80 manufacturers, giving players access to an unusually broad range of automotive options. Track selection is equally substantial, with 51 circuits that include new additions, revised versions of courses from earlier entries in the series, and notable real-world locations. From a technical standpoint, GT4 is among only four PlayStation 2 titles capable of 1080i output, a distinction that set it apart visually from most of its contemporaries. The game's development involved a delay of more than a year and a half, and an online multiplayer mode that had been planned was ultimately removed before release.
