Based on J.K. Rowling's fifth novel, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a 3D adventure developed by Rebellion Developments and released in 2007 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, PlayStation Portable, and Wii. Players guide Harry through his fifth year at Hogwarts, contending with the oppressive Professor Dolores Umbridge, organizing Dumbledore's Army, and ultimately confronting Voldemort as an unfolding prophecy drives the story forward. Gameplay involves exploring Hogwarts castle and surrounding areas, learning fifth-year spells, solving puzzles, and avoiding traps. Certain sequences allow players to take control of other characters, including the Weasley brothers, Sirius Black, and Dumbledore. The Wii version offers a distinct control scheme in which the Wiimote functions as Harry's wand, enabling physical gestures for spell-casting that distinguish it from the other platform versions.

Storyline

Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizard community is in denial about his encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort. Dolores Umbridge, an official from the Ministry of Magic, teaches courses in defensive magic, but this leaves the young wizards unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces that threaten them. Harry teaches other students, in secret, how to defend themselves.
