Persona 2: Innocent Sin is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Atlus and released for the PlayStation in 1999, serving as the second entry in the Persona series and a direct sequel to the original Persona. Set in the fictional Sumaru City, the story follows Tatsuya Suou and a group of fellow students from Seven Sisters High School as they investigate the Joker, a mysterious antagonist spreading reality-altering rumors across the city. Combat is turn-based, with party members summoning Personas — manifestations of their inner selves — to fight demons. A distinctive Rumor system allows players to circulate information throughout the city, shaping events and outcomes in their favor. The original PlayStation release was exclusive to Japan; Western audiences did not receive a localized version until a PSP remake was published in North America and Europe under the Shin Megami Tensei branding.
