Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is a dungeon-crawling RPG developed by P Studio for the Nintendo 3DS, released in 2014. A crossover title, it brings together the casts of Persona 3 and Persona 4 within a framework adapted from Atlus's Etrian Odyssey series, borrowing that game's first-person dungeon exploration perspective and core mechanics. At the outset, players select either the protagonist from Persona 3 or the one from Persona 4 as their point-of-view character, and this choice shapes the main narrative in distinct ways. Player decisions made throughout the adventure further influence how the story unfolds. Gameplay centers on navigating multi-floor labyrinths, engaging in turn-based combat, and managing a party drawn from both source titles, making it a title aimed primarily at fans of either Persona series who are comfortable with methodical dungeon crawling.
At Yasogami High School in Inaba, where a culture festival is being held, a strange bell rings, trapping the Investigation Team inside the school. Meanwhile, the members of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), find themselves transported to the Velvet Room elevator, which suddenly winds up at Yasogami as well. Discovering a labyrinth hidden below the school, the two groups meet up and explore the area, fighting "shadows" along the way, in order to regain the memories of new characters Zen and Rei, which the characters believe will lead them to freedom. The dialogue and events vary depending on the player's choice to follow either the team of characters from Persona 3 or Persona 4.
