Phantasy Star Universe is an action role-playing game developed by Sonic Team and released in 2006 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 2. Set in a science fiction universe, the story follows Ethan Waber, a young man who becomes entangled in a crisis during the centennial celebration of the Alliance Space Fleet aboard the GUARDIANS Space Station. When a mysterious meteor shower devastates the fleet, the chaos separates Ethan from his younger sister Lumia. Encountering a GUARDIAN operative named Leo during the evacuation, Ethan faces his first combat when a strange creature attacks and paralyzes Leo, forcing Ethan to take up arms. The incident sets him on a broader mission. Combining hack-and-slash combat with RPG progression, the game supports both a single-player story campaign and online multiplayer, allowing players to tackle missions cooperatively across its science fiction setting.
