Developed by Game Freak and released in 2018 for Nintendo Switch, Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! is a role-playing adventure set in the Kanto region, where players travel alongside Pikachu as their primary partner while battling other trainers and working toward becoming a top Trainer. Wild Pokémon are visible at full scale in the overworld, and catching them relies on motion controls — players use a throwing gesture with a Joy-Con or the optional Poké Ball Plus accessory, the latter of which responds with lights, vibration, and audio feedback. A second Joy-Con or Poké Ball Plus enables local two-player co-op on a single system. The game also supports connectivity with the Pokémon GO mobile app, allowing Kanto-region Pokémon discovered there to be transferred into the Switch title. Pokémon can additionally be taken on walks via the Poké Ball Plus peripheral.
