Released in 2012, Ratchet & Clank Collection is a remastered compilation developed by Insomniac Games for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, bundling three entries from the original PlayStation 2 era of the franchise: Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. Spanning the shooter, platformer, and adventure genres, the trilogy follows the exploits of the lombax mechanic Ratchet and his robot companion Clank across a series of action-driven missions. All three titles have been upgraded to run at 1080p resolution, with additional enhancements including PlayStation Trophy support and stereoscopic 3D compatibility. The collection serves as a complete introduction to the foundational chapters of the long-running series, presenting each game in a technically improved form while preserving the original gameplay and content.
In the original Ratchet & Clank, save the galaxy as Ratchet, a wrench-wielding Lombax, and his robot buddy Clank, in this action-adventure with a multitude of crazy weapons. In Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Ratchet and Clank return as heroes for hire. Upon taking a job to find a stolen experiment for mega-corporation Abercombie Fitzwidget, Ratchet and Clank meet a large cast of characters who will help them along the way. In Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, gamers return to Planet Veldin, the setting of the original game, where the duo set off on a gripping new adventure through a multitude of diverse planets to fight for galactic peace. Up Your Arsenal includes a multiplayer feature that allows up to eight players to play at once.
