Samurai Warriors: Katana is a first-person hack-and-slash game developed by Omega Force for the Wii, released in 2007 and set in feudal Japan as a spin-off of the Samurai Warriors series. Combat is built around the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, with each player character carrying both a melee weapon — such as a sword or spear — and a ranged weapon like a bow or cannon, which can be swapped freely during battle. Individual enemies can be targeted with a button press, while motion-based attacks hit multiple foes simultaneously. Outside of combat, the controls extend to other physical actions: running sequences require players to physically pump their arms to simulate movement, and horseback riding uses the Remote as reins and the Nunchuk as a whip. A two-player competitive multiplayer mode is also included.
