Twisted Metal 2 is a vehicular combat game developed by SingleTrac and released in 1996 for PlayStation and PC, with later availability on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. The second entry in the Twisted Metal series, it builds on its predecessor's foundation by pitting a roster of armed vehicles against one another across destructive arenas set in locations around the world. Each vehicle comes with a distinct backstory and a unique special weapon, while all drivers share access to a set of advanced rechargeable maneuvers executed through button combinations — including a cloaking ability, a defensive shield, and a napalm blast. Combat is fast-paced and incorporates environmental hazards as meaningful elements of each arena. The expanded move set and global stage variety represent the primary additions over the original game's formula.
