Wild Arms 4 is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Media.Vision and released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, the fourth entry in the Wild Arms series. Unlike its predecessors, which drew heavily on Wild West aesthetics, this installment shifts to a post-apocalyptic setting. The story follows Jude Maverick, a teenager raised in an isolated village suspended above the ground, who descends to the surface and discovers that the world of Filgaia has been ravaged by war, leaving only scattered settlements among the ruins. When Jude encounters a young girl exploited by the government for its own ends, he resolves to protect her and prevent further destruction. Combat departs from traditional mechanics in favor of a hex-based system, dividing the battlefield into seven hexes that characters and enemies share and maneuver across strategically. Characters can also acquire and deploy a range of skills in battle. Outside of combat, dungeons present environmental puzzles consistent with the series' established design.
