This game is rated ESRB: Teen.
Released in 2006 by Activision as a tie-in to X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: The Official Game is a hack-and-slash beat 'em up developed for PlayStation 2 and Xbox by Z-Axis, with Hypnos Entertainment handling the Nintendo GameCube port. The game spans the narrative territory between X2: X-Men United and The Last Stand, following three playable characters — Wolverine, Iceman, and Nightcrawler — through events that connect the two films. A central thread of the story explains Nightcrawler's absence from The Last Stand, filling in a gap left unaddressed by the movie. The game also introduces antagonists not previously seen in the film series, including HYDRA, whose screen rights were not held by Fox at the time. Each of the three protagonists brings distinct combat abilities suited to the hack-and-slash format.
