Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a 2004 Nintendo GameCube platformer developed by Nintendo EAD Tokyo Software Development Group No.1, in which players guide Donkey Kong through a series of jungle environments. The game's defining feature is its use of the DK Bongos peripheral as the primary controller, with players drumming and clapping to direct the ape's movement and actions rather than using a conventional gamepad. The title was originally released in Japan in December 2004, followed by launches in Europe, North America, and Australia in early 2005. It holds a notable distinction as the first game to receive an E10+ rating from the ESRB, the rating board's then-new category for content suitable for ages ten and up. The game was later revisited as part of Nintendo's New Play Control! series, which adapted select GameCube titles with revised control schemes.
