Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift is a tactical role-playing game developed by Square Enix Product Development Division 4, released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. The story follows Luso Clemens, a student who discovers a mysterious enchanted book in his school library during detention and is transported to Ivalice, a fantasy world. Arriving in the midst of a battle, he joins a mercenary leader named Cid and his clan, embarking on a journey in search of a way back home. Gameplay follows the series' established turn-based tactical framework, in which players maneuver units across grid-based battlefields and manage a roster of characters drawn from a variety of job classes and races. The game serves as a successor to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and expands on its clan-based structure and Ivalice setting.
