Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is a tactical role-playing game developed by Square Product Development Division 4, released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance and later available on Wii U. The story follows Marche, a young boy who is mysteriously transported from his ordinary modern life into a fantastical kingdom defined by magic and adventure. Gameplay centers on commanding a squad of units across grid-based battle maps, with success depending on careful positioning and calculated offensive decisions. Each unit belongs to a distinct job class encompassing combat, healing, magic, and archery specializations, giving players considerable flexibility in building their forces. Outside of the single-player campaign, two players can compete against each other and exchange items using the Game Boy Advance link cable. The title represents the franchise's first dedicated entry in the tactical RPG format on a Nintendo handheld platform.
