Killzone 3 is a first-person shooter developed by Guerrilla Games, released in 2011 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The fourth entry in the Killzone series, it builds on its predecessor with refined, more balanced gameplay across a single-player campaign and an expanded multiplayer mode inherited from Killzone 2. Players engage in combat using a range of weapons and can commandeer turrets and vehicles for additional firepower, though these sequences follow a more guided, on-rails structure. A notable addition is a jet-pack integrated into a new exoskeleton system, allowing limited aerial movement with unlimited ammunition. Environments offer some interactivity, with destructible barrels and certain plants serving as tactical tools against enemy soldiers. Killzone 3 also holds the distinction of being the first title in the franchise to support stereoscopic 3D displays.
Visari is gone, but the war is far from over. Helghast forces have mounted a devastating counter-attack, prompting the ISA evacuation of planet Helghan. As new Helghast battalions with more powerful weapons appear, the ISA find themselves outmanned, outgunned and surrounded. The player reassumes the role of Sev, a surviving member of the Special Forces unit Alpha Squad, who must fight against vindictive, merciless enemy forces in a desperate attempt to escape Helghan alive.
