Mario Kart 8 is an arcade racing game developed by Nintendo EAD Software Development Group No.1 and released in 2014 for the Wii U. The game presents the long-running Mario Kart series in full HD for the first time, featuring new circuit designs built around anti-gravity mechanics that allow karts to drive along walls and ceilings. Alongside familiar roster staples, all seven of Bowser's Koopalings — Iggy, Larry, Lemmy, Ludwig, Morton, Roy, and Wendy — appear as playable characters for the first time in the franchise. Races incorporate hang-gliders, underwater sections, and motorbikes alongside traditional kart gameplay.
