The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is a puzzle-adventure game developed by Nintendo EAD Software Development Group No.3 for the Nintendo GameCube, released in 2004. Uniquely among console entries in the Zelda series, it integrates multiplayer into its main campaign while also supporting single-player, making it the first series title where a solo player controls multiple incarnations of Link simultaneously. In single-player mode, the four Links can be arranged into various formations to solve puzzles and navigate the world. The game departs from series conventions by dividing its world into discrete, self-contained stages and levels that remain accessible for replay after completion. Visually and aurally, it draws heavily from A Link to the Past, borrowing that game's graphical style, music, and locations as a foundation for its structurally distinct approach to Zelda gameplay.
Long ago in the kingdom of Hyrule, an evil sorcerer began kidnapping young maidens. This sorcerer was known as Vaati, and it seemed that no one could stop him. Eventually an adventurer appeared who was able to defeat Vaati, this adventurer carried with him the four sword which caused him to be split into four beings, and by working together the four beings were able to seal Vaati deep within the earth. But now Vaati has escaped, and the task of defeating him again has fallen to Link!
