Tony Hawk's Project 8 is a skateboarding game developed by Shaba Games and released in 2006 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PSP, marking the eighth entry in the long-running Tony Hawk's series. The game follows a custom skater beginning in a suburban hometown before breaking out onto the main streets, where Tony Hawk assembles an elite crew of eight riders known as Project 8. The player starts ranked 200th among skaters and works upward by completing challenges and goals to climb the rankings and earn a spot on the team. The sixth-generation versions developed by Shaba Games run at 60 frames per second but differ from their next-generation counterparts in that levels are selected from a menu rather than being laid out as interconnected environments. The PSP port was handled separately by Page 44 Studios.
