Tony Hawk's American Wasteland is a skateboarding action game developed by Neversoft Entertainment and released in 2005 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and PC. The player assumes the role of a newcomer to Los Angeles who falls in with a skating crew based out of a Beverly Hills skate park called Skate Ranch. The central objective involves completing missions to gather components that contribute to the Ranch's development. Missions are obtained by approaching characters scattered throughout the environment. Described as the third reinvention of the Tony Hawk series, American Wasteland introduces several new mechanics, including mid-session character appearance customization and the ability to dismount the skateboard in favor of a BMX bike. Notably, all areas are connected into a single seamless environment, eliminating loading screens between zones. Returning features include the Create-a-Park mode from the Pro Skater era. The game supports multiplayer and two-player cooperative modes.
