Guitar Hero: On Tour is a music rhythm game developed by Vicarious Visions and released for the Nintendo DS in 2008, the first in a three-part handheld sub-series that also includes Decades and Modern Hits. Gameplay follows the core Guitar Hero formula, tasking players with matching colored notes scrolling across the screen to replicate lead or bass guitar parts from rock songs, earning points and maintaining crowd approval. Rather than the console series' guitar-shaped controller, On Tour uses a "Guitar Grip" accessory that slots into the DS or DS Lite's Game Boy Advance port, providing four fret buttons while the player strums on the touchscreen with the stylus. Each installment features more than 25 songs, with regional track list variations, alongside multiple single-player modes. The DS's local Wi-Fi functionality supports multiplayer, and players can bring songs from different installments into competitive matches against one another.
