Guitar Hero World Tour is the fourth entry in the Guitar Hero series, developed by Neversoft Entertainment and released in 2008 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, and Mac. Building on its predecessors, the game expands beyond the series' guitar-only foundation to support full band play, with support for vocals, drums, and both lead and bass guitar performed simultaneously by multiple players. The bundled edition includes a microphone and drum peripheral alongside the familiar guitar controller. During gameplay, vocal lyrics and pitch indicators appear near the top of the screen, while the lower portion is divided into separate note tracks for bass guitar, lead guitar, and drums. Each instrument follows its own distinct note chart, requiring players to accurately hit their respective inputs. The shift to multi-instrument play brought the series in line with the broader rhythm game landscape of the era.
