Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is a first-person action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2004, serving as a direct sequel to Metroid Prime. The game follows bounty hunter Samus Aran as she arrives on Aether, a planet fractured into parallel light and dark dimensions as a result of a cataclysmic event. The surviving inhabitants face constant threat from hostile forces originating in the dark world, and Samus works to aid them by moving between both dimensions throughout the course of the game. Progression follows a Metroidvania structure, with players exploring interconnected environments, overcoming obstacles, and gradually expanding Samus's capabilities through new power-ups and equipment.
